I am posting this for dkbeck because we are at our mom's house for the morning. She made this for someone she works with so he could give it to his wife. Isn't it the greatest? I wish she liked me enough to give me such a pretty quilt. This is dk she might get one someday!!!!!!

How beautiful, colors and patterns and workmanship....

    but ...

That is one of those display fonts that was NEVER intended to be used in all caps!!!!

I'm sure she will pick a more appropriate font for yours!

Blame it on my high school Printing and Lithography teacher.

Moonpi where do you find that kind of information? When I went to school we didn't have fonts and we had A computer for math class but it was a punch card that we had to punch holes in to get the formula to work. It would be nice to know those types of rules for future references.

I went to technical school half a day and learned to run printing presses, set type, operate commercial darkroom equipment, make plates for offset printing, and print stuff. Our final project was to research, write, typeset, and publish a paperback book of 50 pages or more.

Any desktop publishing site will explain proper use of display fonts. When all else fails, just try it both ways and stand back a few feet. The legibilty factor will become apparent immediately. There is a slideshow about typography here:
