This is such an easy way to recycle! Onion bag is a great idea. Thanks.

I did until someone on the board req. that I stop because it can harm the birds.

I use strawberry containers. Along with thread, I also include small snippets of fabric. The birds do use them as I have seen the fabrics in their nests. I try to wedge the strawberry containers in the forks of trees.

Quote: I save the threads I cut and put into my thread catcher and put into this onld onion bag and in the Spring I hang it outside and the birds use the threads to help build their nests! Talk about recycling! lol
Having seen a poor dead bird hanging by one leg tangled in a string, I would not share these with the birds. It was sickening to think of how long that bird suffered hanging upside dwn flailing in the breeze. It was in my yard behind our barn and as I walked around the corner I almost ran right into the dead bird! My husband cut it down for me. It had not been there the day prior. Yuck!

Nope, but I will now! Great idea for all those annoying bobbin thread ends I always feel guilty about unwinding.

I lay my snips on the wood pile all year round. Not in a bag, but the birds do go crazy for them.
