Does anyone know this pattern?

Does anyone know this pattern? A friend has this pillow, but I thought it would be a lovely quilt. I can't figure out exactly how it is made. I would like to see a pattern and instructions for it.

I dont know the name, but it looks easy to draft. It would require a partial seam on the first trangle that is added to the center...

It's called Star of the Orient designed by Judy Martin. Her book is called Scrap Quilts.

Oh my! I saved an old book from my Aunt that had that star pattern in it. I am sure it is the same star because I thought it was so pretty. I'll have to really dig to find it. For some reason I think it was maybe called a rainbow star but I am not sure.

It would be easy to draw your own. It is sewn with a partial seam.....sew about 3/4 of the seam, leave the rest open, start to sew the adjoining seam, go back and finish the first seam.

    very nice!

It is based on a block by McKee, as I recall, called lens.

I thought about this while I let the dog in. Did your friend make this pillow? In my guild, if you want to use a complex pattern someone else has already done, it is considered polite to talk to that person about it. I always share patterns I find or create with my guild sisters, but some others feel more possessive. We let them be.

This was on another thread not too long ago. I don't remember the exact name of the pattern but it is in the book "Quick and Easy Scarp Quilts. I got my book through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...:

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...n-t214394.html
