I make 'rag dolls about 18 " high and give them to local 'kids with cancer'. Here are 3 of my newest, using fabric donated by a local quilting teacher. The skirt flips over to show an embroidered sleepy face and a white nightgown.

Flip Dolls for kids with cancer. Pattern designed by myself (Vickey Stamps) as was both dresses. (All dresses made using 'guess-work' technique or that of 'eyeballing' the concept.

I have made 19 so far. Two little girls one 4 and one 8 were 'laid to rest' with their dolls. I have been told that the families and kids getting the dolls loved them and seem to find them a comfort.

I also made 2 boy ones which have a knitted cap, and when you turn from one side to the other, there is a sleepy face or a smily one.

What more can I ask then comfort for these children.

I am glad to be able to make these.

Thanks for your comments.

They're so cute, you did a really wonderful job making them!
And of course the kids love them, I'm sure they sense how much love and caring went into the making of them.

thanks. I just wish getting the dolls would save them from the cancer, but know that is not even close to reality.

I lost my mother in '92 to cancer, have lost other of family on one side or another to that and Alzheimers, so feel a need to help where I can....when I can.

Take care and thanks for the comment.

I also have written things about cancer.

I am a retired nurse and wannabee writer.

Type my full name if you want to find things I wrote awhile back

sorry...I meant type my name into your 'search tool' for several pages here and there of things I wrote, so you see how my mind works. I also knit tiny socks for kids with cancer... for adults, etc to buy (unfixed price and more like a donation)and hang on the tree in memory to kids with cancer. I have 30 socks made so far for the local ACS and they will be putting up a tree for the socks to be hung on. I keep trying to think of things I can do to raise money when I am on a seniors fixed income and have physical problems, so I hope this will work out. Each little knitted sock has a hanging hoop on it. Maybe I'lltake a picture of the small socks, some are almost baby size and others are REAL small. A lady who owns a local yarn shop donated some yarn to help me with getting them done. Nice people in this world huh. She has the more expensive sock yarns so the little stockings came out better using her stuff.

Best quit rambling. A good day to all. Vickey Stamps

thanks. I think the kids like them because they are soft and colorful and have two faces to reflect how they might feel (Tired-sleepy face_ and smiley-when things are going better for them)

I always hope it helps. If it were my grand or great grands with cancer, I'd want nice things for them.

Thanks for your reply
