I think the quilting would look better without the sashing. You could go from one block to another and make it more continuous.
I'm sure Dora won't mind either way

I like the sashing. It brings in the color of her hair and sets off the blocks well.

I think the design has a bit more dimension and pop without the sashing. But both look great. :)
