I would make the background about a inch bigger, so that the Dresden plate fits better, and lies flatter. ( Is that a real word?) Your place mats will be lovely. I PM ed you about the center issue. :thumbup: I love the tonal red!

Aren't Dresden Plates fun? I think your sisters will be really touched that you made them something for Christmas. I, too, echo everone on making it bigger. I might also use a small Christmas print for the background, something subtle that won't compete with the plate but to complement it. Show us what you make!
