Hello all:
I know it is a little early for this. because I still have 18 more blocks to do, but I thought you might like to see my attempt at a Dresden Heart. I fell in love with this design and I love how it is turning out
I am using Steam-a-Seam 2 to applique the heart onto the blocks. The blocks are 14 inches square so the Dresden Hearts are really big! I am going to do 4 blocks across and 5 down so this can fit on my bed. I will probably do a combination of machine and hand quilting. If I have enough material I am going to make matching pillow shams. If anyone is interested the templates can be found here:
http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/for_girls.htm
The pansey print is going to be the back of the quilt and if I have enough I may use some on the front. I just brought a grape and a teal green batik that I am going to use to frame the blocks and the quilt. That will be coming with more Steam-a-Seam 2.
Here are two pictures, one a little closer then the other. Hope you all enjoy,
Penny

I thought it was a beautiful design too. Sorry, can't take credit for the design. I found it on the link I put in my first message here. Fat Cat Quilt designs free patterns by Sindy Rodenmayer. See link above in intro.

Penny, those Dresden Hearts look so RICH and alive. How unique. I have never made a Dresden. This may be a good one to start with. Thanks for the website. I love the Butterflies. Have already made the copies. I suppose you could say I collect butterfly patterns, since I love butterfles so much, but I've never done that either. Hmm -- what DO I do?
