    Default 2nd wedding quilt delivered

oTwp years ago my first of 17 nieces and nephews got married. It was the beginning of my 'quilting career' as I decided at that time I would attempt to make quilts as wedding gifts. I have been sewing for 45 years, starting at age 7, and have been teaching after school sewing classes to children for the last 6 years. I've been self taught/craftsy/leah day video watcher to learn how to quilt. The quilting and teaching sewing classes was part of my 'retirement plan' but my career as a nurse anesthetist has provided opportunities to start my retirement plan/2nd career/ blossoming hobby early.

Last weekend was the wedding of #2 niece to get married. I had cut out the pieces to this quilt prior to Hurricane Harvey but spent the weekend of hurricane Harvey piecing this together. Fortunately we did not lose power or have any water damage to either our home or my rental house where my Sewing Studio is located. At the last minute I brought a machine home so I could piece this together during the storm. It certainly helped to calm the nerves while it rained and flooded all around us.

I just figured out that this is my 10th quilt in those two years (a couple of lap and baby quilts mixed with the larger ones). Seeing so many girlfriends and boyfriends with my nieces and nephews this last weekend, I may have a hard time keeping up with the wedding quilts over the next couple of years. certainly am going to need my first career, my paying job, to finance my new hobby.

I love the 3-D effect of this pattern. I wish I had finished it before the night before the wedding so that I could have enjoyed it a little while longer. It seems the quilts disappear as soon as I get them made. I'll have to make it my avatar!

Glad you got through the weather and aftermath okay. I liked your comment on how they disappear as soon as you make them, especially the really nice ones. I've got a couple uglies that have hung around forever.
