Birdena's post of her Easter mug rug inspired me! Yesterday, I made this door hanging. Years ago, I saw a dog on a black/white checkered background and was impressed. So my chicken was the perfect choice for mine. The background was a black/white stripe. I rotary cut it 1/2" wider than the stripe and sewed them together for the checkerboard. I've had the fabric for quite some time. When I went to zig-zag the applique, I discovered that my machine's width button is not working  But I found the buttonhole stitch and decreased the length... that worked! whew! I can't wait for my g'kids to come over and see the surprise on the front door.
