These bowls can also be used for so many other things that hot or cold food. How about a candy dish or maybe a cute place to hold small quilty stuff so they don’t get lost. I’m betting others can come up with more uses. These bowls are so cute and can be made for all kinds of holidays plus but cool fabrics in general. I personally can see lots of batiks. Oh, and how about using orphan small blocks and squaring them up to the outside edges before cutting the corners and darts??!!!

Hi Megan! That sounds so frustrating. I'm guessing the manufacturer did not foresee the multiple layer issue so no, I don't think you have to do what they told you to have your project turn out.

What about trimming the wrap n zap so there's only one layer in the edge where you're sewing through so many layers? Or if you don't want to backtrack, maybe you can handsew those spots? Leatherworking tools could help if it's really fighting back.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the inspiration. I tried to make a cozie last night and gave up when my needle got stuck while topstitching final edge. I was tired. Will correct today. stay tuned for pic.
