Fabric dyeing for first time
#41
you can also do it with shaving cream, that's what I had to use because I'm in South Texas, I love your fabrics . I too love hand dying, what did you use? I used some Kona cotton once, it's so "tough" I can't really use it because it's just too hard to sew, but it's beautiful! Sometimes I can find PFD at JoAnn's but mostly I buy it at Dharma Trading.

Thanks for sharing. I love the end product. In my rag rug business I dyed as much as 30 yards at one time. I had washing machines with special disconnects, so that it would constantly agitate. Mine were procion dyes and I set with salt and soda ash. I know there are lots of different ways to do it. Do I really need more fabric? Well of course!

Wow! Your fabrics are awesome! I got into ice dying when a member here posted her beautiful fabrics. It is so much fun to do & great satisfaction. People that aren't into fabric & quilting, just don't get it, do they? Like your co-worker. Things that excites one, does nothing for someone else. Good thing or it would be a boring world! lol Seeing your fabrics makes me want to do some dying this week-end. I just might! Thanks for sharing!

Oh dear! I love the pallet you chose to dye. How fun to be able to say I even dyed the fabric in this quilt. You go girl, and pay no attention to the squeaky wheel in the corner.
I have always wanted to try over-dying a black and white print. I think that would be so fun to use. I am afraid of the muddy color the dark would make in the end product.
