Thats delightful!! I have used fabric paint for many of my blocks and wall hangings. If you need a fast gift or don't have alot of time to sew its the way to go. :)

I think you're right - they did make the quilt! The top went together in just a couple of hours, but I really wanted something to finish off those blank panels and I was reluctant to trapunto them (since it will be just a throw that hubby & the Boyz will abuse, I mean use  ) Don't tell them - I sprinkled a little really fine glitter on the snowflakes, just couldn't help myself!

I used a Shiva oil paint stick (titanium white) and a stencil by Cedar Canyon Textiles (http://www.cedarcanyontextiles.com) - I picked up the stencil, a pattern and an iridescent silver paint stick as a kit from the Quilted Arts Studio booth, but the silver just didn't show up well - so I had to go shopping :D We have a local family-owned crafts store here that has a lot of artist supplies, and they have a limited selection of the paint sticks. In addition to the other places mentioned already, Sew Thankful has them as well: http://www.sewthankful.com/ShivaPaintstiksAndMore.html

My plan is to outline them and add a little detail when it gets machine quilted. I may never live down the fact that it was hubby's idea
