Yes, just like a garment facing only I ironed the raw edges on the facing edge part that was going to be hand stitched on the back.

I totally don't know what you did here but I love the way it turned out. I am going to have to google how to do a facing.

That is so cool! I love the way the curvy edge and the circles contrast with the straight edges of the block.
