Family Heirloom Quilt Top Rescued
Quite a while ago I unearthed a quilt top that was hand pieced by my aunt, now approaching 90 years old, made of genuine 1930s fabrics. It was sitting in my studio for months and every now and again I'd pick it up and try to figure out how to quilt it. Being hand pieced the blocks were not entirely even, but I still loved it. When our home was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, I eventually found it in the muck. I had to save it and washed it many times. Quilting Board sweetie, SewDamnCute, came to visit and offered to quilt it for me (along with my Bucket of Strips Quilt). When it came back to me, I was over the moon! My aunt won't be around for much longer, but I now have something tangible to hold onto -- to remember her when she was young. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.

How wonderful that you were able to save it -- and how wonderful that someone stepped in to help you by quilting it. Beautiful job done both in piecing AND the quilting! How precious that quilt must be to you!
