Stab stitching is a way of hand quilting. I can't master getting multiple stitches on the needle, then pulling the needle through. So I just poke the needle vertically down through the quilt and poke it up through again! One stitch at a time but works or me!

sue z q, the center is not hard. The fans are joined in the usual way and appliqued onto the background. Then the "melons" are appliqued around the center. Very well explained in the pattern. (I did many like that with my Dear Jane)

Check your library, Onalee! AFTER I ordered mine, I found one there! There are many other great patterns in the book!
