This one is absolutely amazing. It looks like you could just step into it. But, if you look at it long enough, you could get dizzy. Just think of all the planning and work that the quilter did on this one.

One of the themes of the Dallas Show for 2009 was Three Dimensional (or the Illusion os 3-D)

This quilt above definitely achieved that effect. I cannot imagine doing that.

I posted about pics of maybe 45 quilts out of 361, give or take a few. And if you count those quilts in all the vendor booths, there had to be over 600 or 700 displayed.

This show always inspires me and I just get all excited, but a few weeks later, the excitement sort of calms down. Then I go back to my plain ole quilts.

I hope you enjoyed this armchair tour of some of the eye candy at the show.

    Linda

Had to be good with math. So many quilters are Math Professors or are math majors. Then there are those that started out as artists and gravitated to quilting. Then there are the rest of us.

You know what that is...the center is the door to Quilt Heaven, and, lol, that's where I wanna go...eventually, lol. Right now, just a look once in a while...does make you dizzy, I couldn't ever make something like that. I'd get sick, doing the planning! Did it win? first place for that part? :D

Yikes! Right off hand, I'd say that's impossible, and yet somebody did it! Pretty amazing!

I printed this picture to send to my uncle Larry. He used to have his own stained glass window business, and we talked at length one time about quilts.
He described doing a quilt so very much like this, but was hard to figure out exactly how you would get the illusion of depth. He will be thrilled to see this.
He also went to horticultural school and has an absolutely amazing garden. He loves the visual stuff. He can walk me through his garden, pointing out each and every different kind of plant and flower, by it's usual, and scientific name, etc. and would be sure, I didn't miss noticing all the individual aspects of beauty from an artists perspective. He also did oil paintings, as do all that side of family. I should have inherited more from them. Grandma says you become aware of your talents as you develop them. Well, I haven't developed that much patience! lol!~
He is going to love this. Thanks so much for sharing with us :D
