well, almost anyway, still need to get a binding on it, but it is quilted and squared up. kind of funny, 6 years ago my sister wanted to make her own quilt, i made quilts for my 3 brother's and my mom; moved on to get kids quilts done, my in-law's and other family members; a couple months ago while at my moms we were talking about my brother-in-law's quilt which took the viewers choice award at the fair last year...my sister turned around and said..."I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT ALL THESE QUILTS WINNING RIBBONS...YOU HAVEN'T EVEN MADE ME A QUILT YET!"

So, i got busy....her birthday is the middle of july. (and the fair is in August...who knows)
she lives 'in the woods' ina house like a hunting cabin, so i used all of my up-north flannels. it is so amazingly soft and (heavy) when i finished quilting it i layed it out on my bed then told my husband..."i don't want to give it to her...i want to keep it! it's too good for her..."
hubby says...it's her quilt; i have to give it up
    so anyhow...here it is

That's really nice.... love the quilting on it. Your sister better consider herself one lucky girl to get it, being you don't want to give it up.

I always heard that you should select (make) a gift that you would really like to have yourself. That is a really comfortable looking, cozy quilt!

thanks everyone, it was really fun to make, came together nicely and is actually the right size for a change (not long and narrow, or wide and short...it actually looks good on the bed)
it is so soft...the flannels are wonderful! i did use muslin foundation to piece the blocks and warm and natural batting...now to do the binding...right after my boss returns it, he took quite a shining to it, and is out running around his neighborhood showing it off ;)

beautiful let us know if it wins a prize at the fair...........it reminds me of a quilt i made for my sister. my sister HATES handmade anything however when she bought a summer log home in upsate NY she couldn't find any bedding to match. she kept telling me there is wilderness fabric if she sewed she would make a quilt herself. i took the hint thinking she wanted me to make it. STUPID me made her an quilt. the cabin had a name so i embroidered the name in the center block which i had an appliqued log cabin that looked exactly like her cabin. she didn't know i was making it and before i was finished she bought a puff quilt since it kind of looked log cabiney. my quilt was beautiful and i loved it, i wasn't going to give it to her but my mom said it was made for her give it. i did and to my knowledge she never put it on the bed (it was queen size) i visited the cabin a few times after i gave it to her and she always had that store bought puff quilt. i now wish i hadn't given it to her and instead saved it for my DS.

ck: I think when you give it to her you might mention that you want to enter it in the Fair and see what ribbons might be rec.'d on hers, since BIL 's rec.'d ribbons. If nothing else just to get her opinion. I think it is pretty. Sometimes when I finish a quilt, I've put a lot of time and special fabric and effort into , I hate to give them up, sort of like losing part of onesself. But then I get the warm fuzzy feelings and know if I'm giving to a special person, that I hope they love it as much as I did making it.
