Here's my thoughts.
SID around blocks to anchor everything.
Loose stipling in white background
Echo in rectangles, squares, and triangles
Loopy design or feather wreath in red squares.
You are right that an over-all would not look good. I did a similar quilt and had an over-all done (only time I sent one out to be long-armed) and am sorry I did that. Sure wish I had done my own quilting.

Very, very nice. I agree with your assessment - too many quilts are over-quilted these days, for some reason.

Beautiful quilt and what a nice gift. I agree that too much quilting would take away from the pieces but I am unable to make a suggestion. Sorry

I try to picture all this and it's hard to imagine what it will look like, but it sounds like it would look good..and a lot of work...but I have until christmas right.Thanks everybody for the suggestions and compliments...I will surely use some of these ideas. Keep em' coming.

Are you using a whole cloth backing? It would be unique if you stitch in the ditch around each center square and windmill square in the blocks then around each side of the complete block(s). What thoughts have you had about it?
