First attempt at Applique
#1
Applique has scared me for a long time, but I bought this kit at my LQS, and thought I would give it a try. However, I about gave it up for something silly--I had trouble getting the paper off the backs of the pieces! After standing and ironing and stripping off pieces, I finally got everything where it was supposed to be. Then I practiced turning corners on my sewing machine. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Now I think I'm ready to tackle something a little bigger!

glad you didn't quit! try taking a straight pin and scratching across the paper through the center then twist material will magically pull apart and can peel right off. Try with scraps it's why I love this site!!!

wow, you didn't start all that small. That fish had just about every corner, curve, point etc. that you had to learn to do. Congrats on doing something new. Each time you do it, you will gain confidence.
It looks great

Really nice wall hanging. I love machine applique also, as you can tell if you have seen my quilts. I use Elenore Burns methods a lot and also fusible raw edge applique. Have fun, sky's the limit.
