Panda - what a cute quilt with the winking kitty. Looks you have been machine quilting of a while. I believe the orange tape is called a flap unless it has a cord inside then it is piping.

Great job!!!!! :D

Well, that kitty is sure fetching! The paw is pointing to a flange, if it is a folded piece of fabric with nothing inside. It is piping if it has a cord inside. It is a beautiful quilt!
Even we here in the US have different names for things in different areas of the country. If that skinny orange thing is dimensional, that is if you can stand it up and it is only sewn on one side, then most would call it a flange.

Panda - your quilt is going to be a big hit with the young boy. The kitty sure likes it. :) The orange between the quilt body and the binding would be a narrow border (I think that is what you are asking). Unless it sticks out from the quilt, then it would be called piping or a cookie crumb catcher :) Very pretty, love the fish!

Ladies,
The "flange" could be just a narrowly folded fabric sand between bindings and quilt wthout cord??? yes???
That is what I did to the orange thing.
