    Default First Minnesota Vikings quilt

Here is the first of two Vikings/fishing quilts that I am making for our grandsons. They are huge Vikings fans (even though they live in Denver), and avid fishermen. The backing is minky. It finished at 66"x87", big enough to use as a spread on their twin beds. The second top is finiished. I just have to quilt and bind it. I'm trying to finish them in time for the start of the football season.

A very modern looking quilt. Good job! Love the quilting, too. How did you do the Viking head? Is it machine appliqué or fussy cut ? I can’t see well on my phone. I have been wanting to make a team quilt for sometime now. One day I will-lol

Toogie, the large team logo was on the front of a tee shirt that I bought. I backed the front of the shirt with some light-weight fusible interfacing. Then I cut out the rectangle with the logo centered and framed it with 1-1/2" strips. I also basted a scrap of fabric over it while I was working on the quilt, so I wouldn't accidentally hit it with the iron and melt it. I couldn't find any quilting cotton with the large logo on it. The quilting pattern is called Spilt Paint from Anne Bright Designs. It's one of my favorites.

What a great team quilt that incorporates another love......fishing. They will love it. My favorite quilts are the ones that are personalized for the recipient. I love the stories behind them and the thought process for achieving. Great finish!

Thanks for getting back to me with info. I have been wanting to make the local school colors, mascot is a panther. I want to donate it for a fundraiser for the basketball or football teams. Colors are orange and black so I don’t want it looking like Halloween 😉 If I can’t find a panther to Applique May just do school initials. We will see. Still on my ever growing list. I told my husband to slow down meeting veterans-lol I have 5 on my list to do, plus a firefighter, my Mexican Star to quilt, a special pillow I’ve been wanting to make for a friend with dementia, plus 40 something bus passenger gifts🙄 My niece does tour bus trips. I usually make 2 each so 80-90 gifts a trip. I probably will make have that and she can buy the other 40 something this time. I’m running out of ideas anyway. I made 3 mini composition vinyl book covers yesterday evening and this morning. Any small gift ideas?

And number two, finished in time for the pre-season games. Now just to get them shipped to Denver.
