Good for you!! Looks good to me!!! and when it comes right down to it, the seams and such are usually distracted by the quilting.

They have ratings by them and this one was rated 1 pin for easy. Its the Austin block. But it wasnt really easy with the points meeting. I would love to make a whole quilt with this block :) I was using scraps from my class quilt top.

I think it looks great. I didn't try anything with points until just recently, so you are brave in my book.

Oh isn't it just the best feeling ever when you finish your first block and it comes out looking great - well done!! What are you going to make next?? I started like this, and ended up with 30 blocks and I am (still) in the process of making a kingsize quilt from them, but during the process I learnt so many different techniques :D

If your sampler quilt is in these same colors, it will be stunning! Well done!

Jennifer, it looks good to me and like a real challenge for a beginner. (I'm one of those, too) I like the contrast of the fabric you chose, too. It's been my observation from my limited experience quilting (I'm on lap quilt #3) that you just continue to learn and modify your "skills" as you go along. And, I've done my share of ripping and yelling. But, I'm mostly self taught with the help of the experts on this board. One of these days I want to take some classes.
