Beautiful. Your free hand is better than mine; I am hesitant to 'play' after spending so much money on fabrics and batting. Maybe I'll get brave and just throw some scraps together and play with that.

Oh! Thank you so much for your kind words, everyone has been so kind with their words, it is very encouraging! I'm working on my second quilt now and trying to learn using a ruler. I found a stencil pattern I wanted to use but could not find my quilt chalk pounce. I drove to the closest town, 30 min. away, and went to Joanns fabrics and Hobby Lobby but they didn't sell them so I bought two marking tools, a white that is supposed to disappear with an iron but it didn't work, and a blue that wouldn't show up on the dark fabric. So, I got creative and clipped the design to the back of a legal pad, attached my laser light and began working from the back, moving the pattern down the line and it's working! I don't like working from the back of the machine but I'm getting better at it. I really feel more comfortable and enjoy the free motion work better. The main center of the quilt I'm learning ruler work! It's much trickier than I thought it would be but I can tell from block to block that I'm getting the touch for it or rather the feel of using the ruler without it sliding. Good thing these quilts are staying at my house because I can see every single mistake but I keep telling myself these are 'learning quilts' and I'm enjoying the process. LOL.
