I love the whole concept of QAYG. Where did you learn how to do this...is it online someplace. I think I would do a whole lot more quilts if I knew this method. Please do share. :-P

I did one quilt as you go. we sewed strips on one side right to the batting, solid block on the reverse side. How did you quilt this one? I like the pattern.

Very pretty. I haven't tried that method yet, but maybe I will now that I see how nice it turned out for you.

I have done QAYG extensively and will try and word this so it makes sense..here is my tips for lining up seams...

    1. I use wider joining strips (I cut the front 1 1/2" and the back 2 1/2") and then sew with my walking foot using a 3/8" seam! You are after all quilting through lots of layers so the walking foot stops puckering
    BUT
You need to allow for the wider seam in your block - it would matter with the blocks in this post as you would cut the points off! Most of the ones I do it doesnt matter...I design them that way to make my life easier!

    2. I sew the two strips down the side of one block...then iron the front joining strip over (or out) only!

    3. Lay the piece you are joining to down....place the piece with the joing strip added on top (right sides together) and pin the seams in place first by just carefully folding back the top one and lining up the joining strip.....then pin the remainder of the seam.

I dont often use pins but this is one time I pin religiously!

Is slightly out you can fudge a little when pinning the back strips over in order to hand sew.

My biggest tip again is USE A WALKING FOOT...this is where the Pfaff IDT comes into its element as it is the perfect fit down the seam.

    Hope this helps you all....

Here is on of my QAYG quilts...

    Bye for Now

Hi Kylie, Thank you so very much for the instructions. I just printed them out. I would love to give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration and for being so thoughtful to put the instructions in "understandable" language! : )
