I wanted to make a small quilt for each grandboy to have in the car when we travel. Wanted it to be fish fabric in honor of our family vacation where they spent so much time fishing.

Pattern: Saw the perfect thing in a quilt shop - would highlight my fish fabric. Looked easy enough so who needs a pattern for that? :?

Fabric: On the Hook by RJR for two fish prints. Moda blenders and dots for everything else.

Problems: Did YOU know that if you have one sashing strip in one part of the quilt you can only have one sashing strip in the others? of the same size, of course.

Problem: Did YOU know that if you guess that 9" is a good width for your focus quilt and you want to use 4 of these strips you get a Stupid Wide quilt that's too short? If you're not using directional fabric that doesn't matter so much, but....

Problem: Did YOU know that the paint streak looking fabrics look VERY dull when cut 12" X 9"? I didn't know I could applique, but I think that's what I did!

sew, fix, rethink, sew, rip, think, walk away, grrrrrr

Now I have another one to make for the other grandboy and .. not sure what I'll do with it, but it won't be exactly like this! It's way too large for what I had in mind. I know that boy will love it anyway!
