That is beautiful. How in the world did you do it? Did you have a pattern, or something? I can't imagine what mine would look like free form. Please explain what you did, it is gorgeous.

Nope, no pattern, but the info in Cindy Needham's class got me pointed in the right direction. This piece is totally free form, and I just made it up as I went along. She demonstrates how to "divide and concur" open spaces and teaches how to do circles, curves and lines to fill it in. If you are wanting to learn these techniques, I'd highly recommend her class.

What an impressive "homework" assignment! You are a fabulous FM Quilter! Maybe if someone sprinkles fairy dust on me I might be able to accomplish similiar.

Ok... A class? It seems you should be teaching them to me! I love your work and am a fan.

What a wonderful job!! I did the Beyond Basic Machine quilting with Ann Peterson and loved it. I've also signed up for Machine Quilting Negative Spaces and then i want to tackle the class you took. Your quilt is inspiring!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing your "homework". I've just finished my 1st FMQ as a Christmas gift for DH. I'm hoping a year from now I'll be able to see good improvement. There's certainly room for it. Your work is inspiring and gives me hope that I can make lovely FMQ on my DSM. Just want to mention that I take lots of Craftsy classes and love their method. A wonderful resource for us quilters and other crafters.

Jean~It sounds like you're off to a good start! Keep at it and you will see improvement over time just like I did. I'm still learning lots, but am pretty comfortable with my machine now. It was sure hard at first to get coordinated with my machine speed and hands! And then trying to actually quilt a nice curved line with fairly even stitches was really a challenge. LOL.
