When I first said it to the group I think they visualized it on the seat and wondered how the heck.....so I had to re-emphacize that it was the lid...I can imagine what they were thinking. Also could be made larger as the center of a quilt.

How would you do that? Makes your orig. squares larger?

This makes me think many years ago everyone was making toilet paper covers for their spare roll. How about a dalhlia on the top of a cover. That would match the "LID" cover. Then if your like me and keep it on the top of the tank lid you would still see the dalhlia.Mary

It would depend on the type toilet (round or oval), how much of the lid you want to cover with your flower, and if you are going to add any leaves. You have to have a pattern for a basic lid cover first. It is easy to make your own. Use whatever background for your flower that you want to make the rest of the cover with and be sure to leave plenty fabric to run a casing around the curved edges into which you will either insert a ribbon, string or elastic that will cause the cover to pull up under the lid. Make your dahlia and then cut out your lid pattern being sure that the dahlia is centered.. If you really wanted to, you could make a tank cover and a tank lid cover all with smaller dahlias. All those flowers and you wouldn't need air freshener (ha ha).

I always picture them as seat cushions in my head . That way the "puff" doesn't matter.
