I know what I thought I was making when I started this quilt, but it has changed several times since then.

Good color choices. It looks wonderful. Hope you’ll show us when it’s quilted.

Really nice. Is that a square in a circle, folded over and top stitched? It is very clever and makes an interesting visual effect. I thought it was a cathedral window at first.....It is marvelous!

Actually I copied the idea from a video I saw by Jean Truelove. I just improvised from there.

Very nice. The black really makes the other fabrics stand out. I like the technique also...going to watch the video again.

It went together really well with the 10 inch layer cake. Easy peasy!

Thanks to everyone posting. I got a call from my long arm lady and she is mailing it back to me this week. I can't wait to see the finished quilt and will post it here when it arrives.

We decided to go with an all over swirl pattern. I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.Name: Finished Galactica.jpg

Wonderfully interesting quilt. I really like the way you showcased the characters in the blocks. The black is just perfect to set everything of to greatest visual appeal. The quilting is perfect and I really like that puffy look that resulted from whatever batting you used. Great quilt.

Thank you! I sent my quilt to my LA lady. She picked the batting and I don't know what she used, but yes very snuggly. The back is black flannel.

Yes, it is the 10 minute block made using a 10" layer cake and features some oop fabric I had by Alexander Henry. I used a technique demonstrated by Jean Truelove https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8HIb1tX9iE

I also made some long rectangular blocks with fussy cut sections to add interest by placing them alternately on the outside of three big 10 minute blocks on one row and then separating the big blocks on the next row and so forth. I just made up the border from scraps to make it big enough to fit a queen bed.

    Thanks for everyone's comments.
