The small ones are like 5 inches and the bigger one is around 8.

Oh -how I love these old spools. I have some found at a garage sale too. I just set mine around the house; I have some fake candles that glow with batteries and put those in the top of a couple and leave the rest empty. Ideas are endless. Am also collecting wooden spools from thread and filling a pickle barrel with or without thread on them. Oh so fun to snoop at garage sales.

You could always make quilt binding and wrap it around the spools so you have them when you want them. Huggies, Fay

I have them, but the center hole is bigger, I put candles in them, on coffee table......Michele
