This is my 9 year old grand-daughters first doll quilt, she made it completely on her own. I explained as she went along but she wanted to do every bit of it by herself. I think she did a beautiful job. She made it for a little friend of hers that needed a quilt for her doll. She was very proud to be able to give it to her friend and say that she had made it all by herself. And I was very proud of her.

I love the way her points came together

Looks like you've fueled the next generation. Good job. She looks so proud of herself and rightly so.

Please tell your grand daughter she did a wonderful job on her first quilt! If you're interested in preserving her accomplishments, you may want to start a photo album and put this as her first pic in there!

I do scrappbooking, but I think a photo album just for her sewing accomplishments is a great idea. Thanks!

How lucky she is to have you to teach her. It looks great. She is a pretty young lady and seems to have inherited her Grandmother's talent.

I love seeing this as so many people are still surprised somehow that new quilters are springing up. It is a passion that can certainly be passed through the generations. She looks so proud that she did it herself. The fabric choices are wonderful too.

Ooooh! I can't wait to get down to Miami and teach my girls how to sew. The younger will love it I'm sure, but the older one needs something she can accomplish on her own. I love your GD's little quilt. I'm going to save her pic to show to my GD's (if that's ok with you!)

That is just fine. The first thing I had my grand daughters make was a pillow, they were able to finish it in a short time and were happy with the results.
