Since you all enjoy pictures so much, I thought I'd share these. They were done by my Great-grandma. At least, I assume they were. They were in her house when she died and she did make quilts. They are all done by hand. The blocks measure 17ish and are not all perfectly square. I have no clue what I will do with them.

This is just a sample of what I have.

What a treasure! It looks like there's plenty of room to square them up. Seems like they need to be put in a quilt for a bed.

They would make a beautiful wall hanging and would make a great memorial of your grandmother!! What a nice keepsake!

Looks like you can but them down and put on some sashing and turn them in to a family heirloom/treasure.
    Her (DGG) work is beautiful.

I "see" them in a quilt but for right now I'm too chicken to start cutting on them. Maybe after I do a few more practice things.

Ohhhh .. Those are sweet lisa! I love how the stars are floating in the center. So many of the old found blocks of yesteryear had them running all the way to the edge making it impossible to square them up and too wierd to try and set. Lucky You!

I would try to square them up as best you can and make a quilt from them. The blocks are beautiful and scrappy quilts are just the best.

LOL! I wish I could do that block, too! All those points together yet still pointy is way beyond me. I'm still on "beginner blocks".

What a wonderful treasure! By all means, make them into a quilt - someday your own great-grandchildren will have an heirloom to treasure that unites you and your great-grandmother. There's a nice article in the Sept issue of American Quilter about finishing old or antique blocks into quilts.

those are just beautiful! I have Sunbonnet Sue blocks that my Grannie made when I was young. I have made more Sue blocks and split the ones Grannie made up to make lapquilts for my sisters. I should have those done by Christmas this year. Next year I'll start on the ones for my dd's. That way everyone gets one of Grannie's squares in something that hopefully they will treausure.

Great idea!! Maybe I should share my blocks around the family in some kind of smaller project for all the great grandkids. Hmmmmmmmm..... more to think about.
