My DD that is in New Zealand, just loves Halloween, so I made up this tabletopper/wallhanging for her. I machine embroidered a spider on it and tried out my couching foot to do the spider web, with modest results.

The quilt edges aren't really that wavey, but I had to use duct tape to hang it. Also, I just noticed a piece of black thread that I missed on the bottom (it really isn't a part of the design  )

    Thanks for looking.

Duct tape doesn't really do a very nice job for display purposes ;-)

Beautiful! You did a great job on the attic window corners (my teacher called them Y-seams... is that the same as mitered?... either way, they look great)

I think like mitering a border, at least I did that the same way. :-)

Thanks for all the kind comments. The web gave me an opportunity to try out my new couching foot.

Very nice! I'm curious about the couching foot for the web. Is there a tutorial for that somewhere?

I have a Bernina and I believe there is a little video on using the Bernina couching foot. Anyone can access that site (has some need projects that really you could do with any machine). I saw the foot demonstrated at my new Bernina owners class and since I was working on this table topper at the time, and had decided to machine embroider a spider on it...then I came up with the web idea so I could use the new foot. I just used sparkly yarn. I buried the ends of the yarn in the quilt batting after I finished couching it down.

Thanks for all the kind comments. We leave for NZ on Saturday, and I plan on hand carrying it so it doesn't get lost if my checked baggage does! Would wind up with no clean clothes, but will have my daughters tabletopper...how's that for priorities? :D

That is really great - I love the spider's web. I hope you have a good trip and I'm sure your daughter will love it. :D If your suitcase does go missing, I guess you could wear the quilt like a sarong?
