Hand Pieced and Quilted in time for Christmas!

I started this quilt back in July when it got too hot for sewing in an attic with no air conditioning and quickly finished piecing it as it was a simple pattern. I then decided to give it to my elderly neighbor for Christmas which meant I would have to make one for her husband. That one was machine pieced and quilted, but last night I finished sewing the binding on by hand (first time I've ever done that!) So all's that left is labeling and washing.

All but 5 fabrics are actual feedsacks, even the binding is, but the backing is not. Flowers are quilted in the center squares and the pattern called for straight lines on the borders, but I wanted to try a cross hatch pattern but it didn't turn out too perfect, so don't look too closely!

It's not a mistake, it's an unconscious decision to change the pattern.

Fantastic! I love feedsack fabric; it has a special feel to it, and the designs are unique. Lucky neighbors!

thanks everyone! and I found the picture of her husband's quilt I made (without having to take another picture) The top on this one is all flannel or corduroy with a regular cotton backing. I SID on this one. The rows are straight, I just had to cut them a little funny to cut out the bad parts. This one is called 'Brick by Brick' as he was a bricklayer

I love both of them...great job.
Your neighbors are very lucky indeed to receive these beautiful Christmas gifts and to have a neighbor who is so wonderfully kind, generous and thoughtful as you. God Bless and Merry Christmas!
