Ok, I'll post again since it's well loved.

I want to also give a link for those who are asking how I made this. A great tute is at Bonnie Hunter's site, quiltville.

    Here's the link: http://quiltville.com/maverickstars.shtml

Someone PM'ed me on making these stars and Bonnie does a great job on hers. She used 4P for the center of her blocks. I chose mine plain. You can make it anyway you want.

    Here's some tips:

I also want to give some tips for you on making it a happy scrappy. The pic below is an example of what you want to aim for in your scrappy. You will want to have at least 3 of the blocks of your star to be 'really large scale' fabrics. Notice the top right corner, bottom right corner and bottom left corners of this block are all large scale!! That should be your goal to give it a happy scrappy look. Also, I made it a point to make sure each block was surrounded by a different plaid or stripe. You won't want 2 plaids meeting together when joining blocks. Using vertical and horizontal stripes in the sashing helps give it a break from all that 'plaidness' in the quilt. All plaid sashing could end up looking all boring sashing too. Notice the large scale print to the left of this block. Do you see how it gives excitement to these stars? For the wonky stars, I wanted at least 2 of the blocks to have long spires, even if they are skinny! haha. Rearrange the blocks with spires til you love what you see! Most of all, have fun with your 'Happy Scrappy Wonky Stars!' :D :D

p.s. I just noticed there are '4' lg. scale fabs in this block! Four should probably be the limit though and balance it with some smaller scale fabrics. Do you see how the big polka dots balances out the 3 lg. scale fabs? Hope this helps you with your WS!

a good example w/lg. scale fabs

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your quilt. It just goes to show that in a truly scrappy quilt that only value matters. Just too adorable. Look forward to seeing the final product.

I love your wonky stars. There's something about using up all those scraps and being wonky that calls to my heart.
