Default Hawaiian print lap quilt

I picked up this Hawaiian print on the free table at one of my guild meetings, and there's still enough of it left for another quilt or two. The funny thing was that the fabric was obviously left over from cutting garments, not quilts, so I figure there must be a group of people wearing this print somewhere in Oregon.

I had been wanting to try this pattern by Nicole Chambers from her book - http://www.amazon.com/More-Simple-Qu...s+with+panache It's the quilt on the cover, but it sure looks different with my fabrics. It's backed with red flannel, and I quilted it on my Innova.

Lovely quilt. The pattern is intriguing. Are the points all done in the sashing? Thanks or sharing. .

I like your version much better. To me, it certainly doesn't look like a SIMPLE quilt. And I love the way you changed the edges. It seem much more 'complete' than the picture on the book cover. One question: In the dark centers, did you applique the 4 'petals' (for want of a better word) or were they printed in the fabric and just emphasized by quilting?

Oops, just looked at the backing photo and you QUILTED those black centers to make the effect! WOW!!
