Default Eight Pointed Civil War "Buckshot" Pin Cushion

I found the pattern here: http://www.marcusfabrics.com/images/...pincushion.pdf several months ago and I think I have seen a link on this board as well. I fell in love the the shape, it reminds me of an octopus. I made mine in civil war reproduction fabric with emery sand to fill the pieces. I made pouches cut a little smaller for the emery and slipped those in the main fabric pieces. The emery sand does settle to the bottom, but it is really heavy. I did a lot of hand sewing on this.

Cutie pin cushion. Where do you get your emery?

You did a great job on it. I have one made by a board member, and I just love mine. She even put a special button on the top from a uniform in her family.

Very nice and an unusual shape. I could see this in Christmas fabric and would look like a poinsettia.

I bought two cups from an etsy shop called "my sweet accent". The shipping charges were cheaper than the person on Amazon. The etsy shop also had a choice between 80 grit and 100 grit emery.
