    Hey all,

Karen was on the verge of throwing this top away because it was soooo wonky...many of the points don't match and the outer border wasn't measured before applying. To sum it up, nothing about this top is square...it wouldn't lay flat no matter how much she tried to smooth it out. I regret that I didn't take "before" pictures because the problem was pretty extreme.

In any case, the issues were overcome during the quilting process. Sometimes, heavy quilting is an expression of art...other times, it's necessary to stabilize a wonky quilt. This quilt is an example of the latter. Stacked feather medallions were used to stabilize interior portions of quilt, while ribbon candy stitching fixed the border.

However, the quilting isn't so tight that the quilt is stiff...instead, it feels soft and pliable. Batting used is 80/20, so any residual "wonk" will completely disappear after it's been washed and gets that crinkly heirloom look. Thankfully, this quilt didn't have any interior borders or sashing...that would have been a game changer. So, what do you think?
