Help choosing border. . .

I have an idea for the plain white squares. Do a quilting design to match the quilt and paint or stencil in gold or yellow inside the quilted design (like quilt a flower and paint the flower petal as an example)

I didn't see any mention of your dimensions. Is this a wall hanging? How big do you want it to be? Thinking of where it will be used will aid your selection. I would pin your two choices on two sides and let it hang for a few days, then decide.

A really deep brown or black thin border followed by the first gold would be beautiful, IMHO (My thinking is that the brown or black would pick up the dark color in the background of some of the photos)

If you do go there I would suggest using a thin strip of the solid gold fabric and then a wider strip of the plaid or the dotted material if you have any of that.
