Everything thing seemed to line up til I got to the end. What do I do now?

from just eyeing it from the picture, it looks like the strip going down,,,3d one on 2d row is larger than the rest. Maybe give it a measure and check it

Check both of the vertical strips on the bottom right hand side..... please don't get discouraged! We all have learned to have a love/hate relationship with our seam rippers :wink: You will figure it out.....and it will be okay.... atleast the strip appears to be too wide and not too narrow :D

Ok, I found my little trusty ruler.
Measure your strips going down. The bottom ones seem to be bigger than the top ones.
It's an easy fix! Don't worry, we have ALL done things like this before.
That's what we are here for, to help you out.

I think you need to compare rows before adding the horizontal sashing. I would do it in sets of 4,(2 top, sashing+ 2 bottom) make sure the new blocks of 4 blocks + sashing were the same size, then connect the extra 2 in the middle. Squaring up before you add sashing is a big pain, but it does improve accuracy. That way if there are any little inconsistencies in seam widths, they are dealt with before they get too noticeable.

AFter I make blocks, I like to square them all up to the exact same size using a template and a rotary cutter around the edges. Then I know if the sash is the same size, and the blocks are the same size, it works better. My best bet is to square all the blocks to the exact same size. Just a 1/8 of an inch on each blocks makes a huge difference in the end. Good luck. We've all been there, and some of us still travel that trail now and then.

oh yes, and make sure you don't stretch the blocks when you sew on the long sashing. It's SOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo easy to do that.

What I usually do when sewing rows together is to put pin both layers together at each end, then pin the middle, and then a few more times on each "half" that way I know it'll line up when I'm done sewing. Sometimes the fabric that touches the sewing machine gets "eaten up" by getting pushed by the feed dogs.

The third strip on the bottom row appears to be wider than the others, but it could be that your quarter inch seam is off. Once it's off, everything after it will be off and picking up more inaccuracy as you go along.

It just looks to me like you need to remove that bottom row and the third and sash and their two blocks.

Measure the sash strips and blocks and make sure they're the same size as the others and check your quarter inch seam and sew them back on the row and sew the bottom row on again.

When I started, most of my problems were my seams. I couldn't sew straight and I couldn't sew accurate quarter inch seams -- even with the quarter inch foot.

Can't even draw a straight line with a ruler!
