What a lovely quilt! I love your color choices for that pattern. If you feel you need to do more quilting, then by all means...do it! I'm not sure I would use any thread color other than to match your background. You want this quilt to be carried by your piecing and the design, not the quiltng design.

I think that it is beautiful! And just doing the stitch in the ditch would be enough for this quilt. The design is the focal point for this quilt. Some simple curved lines would be nice for the border, nothing fancy - it will be faster to complete that way :-) - and curved lines will compliment the overall design.

I really like it the way it is. A walking foot isn't used for FM quilting I don't think. Anyway, I haven't heard of that.
You could do FM in the white areas but I'm a fan of the 1/4 inch for very traditional patterns. I'm new to machine quilting too, I've always done hand quilting and am just beginning to do it by machine and I'm having a hard time deciding what and where to do FM.
