No pattern...used the zippers I recycled as my measuring stick:)I believe they are 4" for each square...I marked a few lines to make sure I stayed straight with the selvages.
Made a lining that was already sitting in the bags when I slid the zipper side in between the lining and the outside selvage...then pinned in place and sew-sew-sew!! Once one side was sewn...I pinned the other side..then finished. That was it...I have no idea the proper way of sewing a zipper...for I was in wood/plastic shop class when everyone else was in sewing!:)But, I can tell you it is easy and quick doing it that way...right or not;)Hope that helps...Skeat

You so could do that!! Cut a piece of thin muslin or something like that....pencil in a few lines the direction you want to sew...I did mine at an angle...right off the center of point to point of muslin...then sew!:) I trim when the square is finished...then sew 2 for each side...then sew together leaving the top open...press 1/4" on top edge to inside...then lining...press too the 1/4"...slip zipper edge in on one side...sew...then do the other side..went quick..and, once you start sewing those selvages..you will be hooked!

Instead of a zipper, for those who can't or don't know how to sew a zipper in, could you use velcro?
