Heritage Church Quilt and Craft Show
Just have to share. The first 2 pictures are some of the quilts that were in our annual quilt show this year. What an assortment! There are a couple of quilts that were made from the same pattern, but by different people. Very interesting to see the differences!! The "America the Beautiful" quilt from McCalls Magazine in 2011 was one we did as a group. Mine is not finished. (hanging head in shame). But there were 5 of them there, I think. Makes me want to go home and finish mine.
The next 2 pictures are of the quilt I had in the show. It was supposed to be in last years show. I finished it about a week ago. LOL The center panel is done in trapunto, and each row around has a different quilting in it. My second on my machine. Not perfect, but I like it!!! Made for good practice.
The next 2 are pictures of a quilt I made on the spur of the moment. I bought the panel of sayings in Cincinatti last year, along with a bundle of fabric I liked in Pink/White/Black. My neighbor is fighting a battle with cancer, and it just happens to be cancer awareness month. It was like carma. I made it, invited her to the show, and as I was walking around with her, I said, "and this one is yours". She was elated! It is lap size. For when she goes to chemo.
And the last picture is of two quilts made by my Grandson and Granddaughter in our 4-H group. I had them doing strip quilts to work on their 1/4" seams. They machine quilted them and bound them themselves. I helped Dakota cut his binding so we could use up the scraps and cut them on the bias. Lillian couldn't sew a strait seem for her binding and after ripping it out 3 times, I helped her finish that up, too. Of course she would sew half way around before she would point out that it wasn't looking too good. Guess I should have been watching closer!! Dakota is 11 and lillian is almost 10. I have 2 other girls in my group. Dakota got the blue ribbon at the fair, and a certificate for "best new quilter" at the show. I am very proud of both of them.
Thanks for looking!!!
