This is so beautiful, colorful and classic. How did you attach the batting and binding so well, being it is not a square or rectangle? A tutorial would be wonderful

Thank you Grace. I did not bind this little topper. It is birthed. I layered the top right side together with the backing and put my batting on the bottom. They I sewed around the perimeter. I did do a start and stop for every inside corner (like you would do for a Y seam) and I left an opening for turning. I then trimmed the batting and backing to match the odd shape of the top and turned it right side out, poking out all those hexi angles as best I could. I then glue basted my opening shut and sewed 1/8" from the edge all around. Then I quilted it. You can't get away with birthing larger projects and quilting like this, you will end up with some pretty nasty pleats and puckers as you get near the edge if you tried birthing anything larger than a crib quilt. But this was a small project and I used a super flat, low loft batting. So I only got a couple very tiny pleats and puckers around the edge. Most I was able to work out as I went.
