Could you tell us why it got so heavy and what you used to stabilize it? I'm about to make one and need all the help and instruction I can get.

Wow, that is a perfectly made quilt. You have done a beautiful job. Everything looks so perfect. And your design is just perfect.

I used a lightweight fusible stabilizer like you use for T-shirt quilts. The jerseys are much heavier and bigger than T-shirts- it was quite a job deconstructing them.
I used a lightweight thin batting and a cotton wide back.
This is the backing I used. They wanted burgundy and black but I didn’t want to piece anything and add more weight so found this red/ black wide one from fabric.com
