Hoover Replica Quilt...pieced and quilted by Cedar Valley Quilts

This is the replica quilt we made for the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library. The original quilt was pieced by President Hoover's great-grandmother and is dated from approximately 1860. We used reproduction civil war fabric that closely matched the original, and Kevin quilted it with a cross hatch design. The library is having an exhibit this summer, and this will be in it

Wonderful to see how the cross hatching enhances the quilt. There is a lot of elaborate quilting done, which is beautiful on it's own but sometimes the simpler quilting leaves our eyes free to enjoy the pattern and colors.

I think it is a beautiful quilt, and has a simple elegance.

beautiful color combination, love the pattern and really like the crosshatching. It is simple but I think on the right quilt, it really enhances the pattern. Great work.

Nicely done and what a great idea; I found this quite interesting in the historical aspect; Herbert Hoover trained in Oregon as a surveryor of land and my son near Salem Or has a farm that was surveyed by him and has the info on his paperwork. Until he bought this place we had no idea of that part of Pres. Hoover's history. Thanks so much for sharing!

I never realized that about his history either. With his library right out our back door, we sometimes forget about his earlier years. Thanks for the info!

What a wonderful quilt, and a great honor to be able to make it and have it shown in the library's exhibit! Nice job!
Being skinny isn't easy, so I gave up and opted for being sexy instead. (aunty acid)
