Dawn, the main housekeeper where I work treats us all like we are her children. We love her for this. Who knew that there's such a thing as housekeepers appreciation week?

So, seeing how my recent attempt as D9P isn't working out as I planned. (I'm really not fond of how my blocks look at this point). I thought I'd try my hand at this for Dawn.

Here's my first house block ever. It's not perfect. Something looks a little off. Not sure what it is. I followed the instructions. Not sure if there should be some house material above the window. It's not 12.5" square, which leads me to believe there should be a smidge more in the height dept.

I plan to make some of the houses have grey roof tops, as I don't have enough of that dark brown.

What are your thoughts?

looks good -- think that if you add fabric above the window that you'll also have to add on the door piece to keep it even.

I see nothing wrong with the one you are using.

Cute house !

Great start. I agree with adding an additional strip of fabric tho. It would go across the whole block, between the roof and the house. It would square the block up. Just measure the width, and height. Subtract the height from the width to see what the measurement of the finished strip should be, add a half inch for the seams.

It is a nice block but for me I would take away one of the chimneys and make the other chimney narrower. One less chimney would make it go faster also.
I agree with PaperPrincess that it needs a strip between the house and the roof.
