You're welcome, but I'm certainly no expert!

Thanks for taking the time to show us, I really love these stars but thought it was to hard of a project. But now that you'd showed us I might be going to the fabric store today! :D

Do you have any of your sewn strips left? Could you post a picture of how you ruler looks to cut the 45 degree angle?

    DA Mayer,

I don't have any more strips left, but here's a sample. I lined up my ruler with the 45 degree mark on my mat and on my ruler.

Thank you, sometimes I am visual and just need to see it. I have always wanted to make a lone star, thanks for the tutorial.

Sewnsewer, this is so gorgeous, but i don't understand. You said you used 9 fabrics, but i only see 5 fabrics in the stars??? And in step one, how many strips of fabric do we sew together, and what colours and in what order? Sorry to bother you, it just looks so gorgeous, thanks :)

If you look at the second photo, there "step 3" you will see that there are indeed nine.

This is a great tute I'm book marking it now! About how much fabric would you said you used? I'd love to use this on some blue scraps I have left over from a quilt I did.

    Barb M,
I sewed all 9 strips of fabric together. You can use any colors you like. Then cut them at a 45 degree angle like how it says to do it on this website...

    http://www.angelfire.com/va3/jclane/.../LoneStar.html

Elizabeth A., I don't know how much fabric I used because I used what I had on hand. Anywhere from 5/8 to 1 yard I guess? It really doesn't take that much fabric.

My strips were 42"long and I used 1 strip per color per diamond and there are 8 diamonds. Which means you'll need 8 strips per color.
