There were...drum roll please...1,736 pieces in the quilt top. There were pieced sections (like the borders) on the back, but we didn't count those. The winner guessed 1,735...she calculated pretty good.

It was made using scraps from our stashs and the church stash. We used the X-Block ruler. A pretty neat way to use scraps.

What a beautiful scrap quilt. Where can this pattern be found? It looks like fun.

The instructions are with the X-Block ruler. We bought ours at a local quilt shop, but sure you could find it online. You make a nine patch and then use the ruler to offset it. We tried to use dark reds, greens, blues, black, and browns, with a variety of lights from while to ecru. Really proud of the way it turned out

Forgot to say that the pieces cut off of the edges are used in the borders. No waste!

Hello, and welcome from the Metro St. Louis area! I drive through Houston on my way to Thayer! Do you ever shop at Lucky Dollar in Licking? I need to find more of the LQS in that area!
Great job on the Venetian Tile quilt! I have the ruler, but haven't gotten to any of the quilts yet!
