Hydrangea quilt - "Saratoga Star"

I thought I'd start a thread for the new quilt I started last night. This one will be for my wife, Melissa, who picked it out. It will be the "Saratoga Star" pattern by Touchwood Quilt Design. The fabric is a hydrangea flower and raspberries theme by Holly Holderman. The blocks will have a central square on point of the hydrangea print, with stars using the leafy and solid greens, blues, and yellows. The inner border and binding will be green, and the outer border will be the striped material. I got all the block pieces cut last night so am ready to start pieceing them together.

how did you get interested in piecing/quilting?
I've been a closet admirer of quilts for years/decades. Finally decided that I would like to try. My wife does machine embroidery, so she likes to sew as well, which gave me a connection to the local sewing center store where I bought my machine. I'm having a blast with this, I love it! :) Originally Posted by bearisgray

No, I haven't seen any other men's work on here that I'm aware of, but hope to. Haven't heard of John Flynn, either. Is he a quilter?
