Default I was gifted some scraps.....

A few weeks ago I was gifted a med sized priority box of fabric by a generous member of this group. (Thanks again Sherry!!) It contained some finished blocks, some large pieces of fabric and a lot of misc smallish pieces (3” squares, 3x5 rectangles, partially assembled bits, etc.)

After I sorted the fabric, I thought it would be great fun to try and make the smallish pieces into table runners. (I’d never made a table runner) It was a super experience pulling together someone else’s work to make a new cohesive whole item. I had a blast!

Below are pictures of my first 2 table runners plus a bonus piece. The larger one is for a distant cousin who requested burgundy, green and beige. I had extra fabric in her colors so made her a hot mat too. The smaller one is just something I threw together. I am looking forward to making more runners with the remaining pieces.

Nice work. I really like the third one. Those colors call to me. I thought I was the only person on the planet who calls them hot mats. So happy I am not alone.

Cute quilt. Girls carry low and wide. Boys high and like a basketball, at least around here. Mine did!
